Metronomy is a musical project by the talented English musician Joseph Mount. Is it necessary to talk about how much the Ukrainian people loved the work of British bands and artists? Fortunately, the Metronomy group is no exception. The team successfully tours Europe, Russia, the United States of America and Canada. Although Joseph himself does not consider his project mega-popular. As he puts it: "Of course, there is a share of fame and recognition around the world, but we are not celebrities."

An interesting fact is that Metronomy has two forms. The first is behind the scenes, it is the owner of the project himself, who writes music and words, acts as the director of the videos. The second is the stage, it is a group in the form in which we know it.
The main genres of creativity are electronic music and indie in different directions. Their singles are heard all over the world.
Well-known Metronomy hits: “The Look”, “Old SKool”, “Love Letters” and many others.

Band history

Twenty years ago, a 16-year-old boy decided to make music. He was already in one collective as a drummer but always knew that he wanted more. So the Metronomy project came about. No matter how surprising it may sound, this group formed as a secondary object of two musicians Joseph Mount and Gabriel Stebbing, who already participated in successful groups. But the reverent appeal to his hobby gave incredible work.
Soon, the guys move from Totnes hometown to Brighton and the guys begin to build up their creativity and popularity.
And the first financially successful step was the fact that producer and DJ Erol Alkan played his sets using Metronomy's song “You Could Easily Have Me”.
The year 2006 was a significant date - the world saw the first album entitled “Pip Paine (Pay the £ 5000 You Owe)”, released by Holiphonic.

Composition

Initially, Metronomy was a trio: Joseph Mount, Gabriel Stebbing, and Oscar Kesh. But in 2009, Gabrielle decides to start her project and leaves the group. Thus, the band was enriched by two musicians: bass player Gbenga Adelekan and drummer Anna Prior. In this composition, the group still exists. Each participant has his clear roles.
Joseph Mount is the one without whom there would be nothing. It is he who is the generator of the group’s creativity, composer, songwriter, plays keyboards and guitar.
Oscar Kesh is the cousin of the project owner. He plays the parts on saxophone, guitar and is a backing vocalist.
Gbenga Adelekan - talented bass player and vocalist of Metronomy
Anna Prior is not only a feminine decoration of the group but also a great vocalist and drummer.

Discography

The first album, “Pip Paine (Pay the £ 5000 You Owe)”, was released seven years after the band formed. Three years later, it was reissued, but on another label, Because Music. Metronomy is still working with this company.
From the second record called “Night Out” (release date - 2008), vocals begin to appear in the instrumental work of the guys. This is also the last album that was recorded at Joseph's house. Subsequent discs are created at professional recording studios.
Joseph Mount's musical philosophy and creative appeal resonated with the public. Further Metronomy albums occupy high positions in the world music charts. Although the third album, "The English Riviera" (release date 2011), was originally criticized by musicians in their native country, music experts from other countries praised the long-play. Nevertheless, this did not prevent the plate from receiving the status of silver.
Not long after the release of the third album in an interview, the guys said that they should expect the release of the next album in 2014. And so it happened. It was this year that the world heard "Love Letters". Reviews on the disc around the world were diametrically different, but it entered the top ten best records in the UK and France.
Despite the diverse criticism, Joseph Mount adheres to his position and follows only the call of his heart and inspiration. In 2016, the anniversary album "Summer 08" was released. As the author of the project himself said, this is the most positive and joyful thing from all of the creativity.
In 2019, the guys released another album called “Metronomy Forever”. This is the most voluminous record, as it includes as many as 17 tracks.
